Description
HPE’s ProLiant ML110 Gen9 server tower is designed to adapt as your business needs change with support for substantial memory, storage, and the ability to be rack mounted with 4.5U of enclosure space. This is an excellent platform for standard business applications and can support substantial virtual desktop infrastructure applications for financial services, education, scientific research, and medical imaging, to name a few. It supports a variety of hot plug features including storage devices, power supplies, and fans.
Performance
The ProLiant ML110 supports a single Intel Xeon e5-2600 v3 with up to 8 cores, an E5-2600 v4 processor with up to 14 cores, or one of Intel’s E5-1600 v3 processor family. Depending on your choice of processor, this tower server will support four channels of either DDR3 or DDR4 memory modules. Powering the system is either a 350W, 550W, or 750W power supply. The 750W CS Gold hot plug power supply requires he RPS enhancement kit to support dual power supplies.
Memory
Each of the four memory channels on the HPE ML110 Gen9 supports two DDR3 or DDR4 memory modules for up to eight memory modules total. Using DDR4 memory modules, the system will support a maximum of 256GB of memory operating at speeds of up to 2600MT/s. Memory speed is a determined by speed of processor, speed of memory, and memory configuration with all components defaulting to the slowest speed.
Storage
There are two basic chassis configurations on the ML110 gen9 supporting SAS or SATA HDD or SSD drives. Choose from either an 8-bay 3.5-inch LFF chassis or a 16-bay 2.5-inch SFF chassis. The system supports an integrated HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i offering limited RAID function for the 8-bay LFF version. The 16-bay SFF chassis will require a P840 controller. There is also a selection of optional HPE Smart Array controllers and HPE Smart Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) that can be installed via one of the standup card PCIe slots.
Expansion
Five PCIe slots are supported on the system supporting a variety of optional NICs, HD RAID controllers, and GPUs for graphic processing. You can choose from either the Nvidia Quadro K2200 or the M2000 to support your graphics needs. An integrated network controller supports communication speeds of 1Gb over two ports, although, you can also choose from several optional network controllers that can be installed in one of the five PCIe ports for greater bandwidth.
Management
Embedded management is made easy with HPE’s Integrated Lights Out (iLO) Standard. ILO provides ongoing maintenance, server alerting, reporting, and remote management. HPE’s iLO can also be upgraded to either iLO Essentials, or for management without compromise, ILO Advanced provides the most comprehensive remote management functions. HPE Insight Online is also included with the ML110 Gen9 server tower for server updates through a browser.
Summary
The HP ProLiant ML110 is a perfect fit for small businesses. It’s affordable, yet still highly adaptable to your changing workload with generous memory and storage. It’s extremely quiet, and can be placed in the front office. If you outgrow the confines of your current office space, the ML110 Gen9 can also be rack mounted with 4.5U of available rack space prolonging its useful life.
