Description
Designed for the BladeSystem c3000 or c7000 blade enclosures, the modular form factor of the HPE BL660c Gen8 server blade offers an easily scalable solution for data centers and large enterprise applications. The c7000 will support a maximum of four full-width blades or up to eight half-width server blades while the c7000 will support a total of 16 half-width blades and eight full width server blades like the BL660c. The enclosures can also support a mix of both full-width and half-width server blades. Both enclosures also support multiple generations of server blades in the same chassis.

Performance
Intel’s C600 series chipset supports up to four Intel Xeon E5-4600 or E5-4600 v2 processors but Administrators can start out with just two and scale to four CPUs as business needs change.
Memory
There are 32 memory slots total on the system board that support up to 1TB of memory using 32GB load reduced (LRDIMM) modules in a four processor configuration. Registered (RDIMM) memory modules are also supported but cannot be used with load reduced DIMM modules. HPE recommends using HPE SmartMemory to realize performance improvements and enhanced functionality. Depending on the memory configuration and processor model, memory will run at either 1600 MHz, 1333 MHZ, or 1066 MHz.
Storage
Two SFF drive bays are located on the front of the system supporting either SAS or SATA HDDs or SSDs. The BL660c has one embedded HPE Smart Array P220i controller that supports the two SFF hot plug drive bays, and offers minimal RAID configurations of 0 and 1.
Expansion
Three PCIe 3.0 I/O expansion mezzanine slots can be used to support increased I/O, storage controllers for DAS, and I/O accelerators. This system will support one or two dual port Flexible LOMs providing 10Gb Flex Fabric, 10Gb Flex-10, or 10Gb Ethernet, which are routed through two separate interconnect modules. QDR and FDR InfiniBand connections are also supported offering low latency and greater throughput.
Management
Integrated Lights Out (iLO) offer Administrators help provisioning, deploying and managing the server. HPE OneView provides lifecycle management of the system in a data center environment. Other management features are handled at the chassis level.
