Description

The HPE ProLiant DL585 Gen7 server removes performance bottlenecks with its four processors, extensive memory capacity, and large amount of storage. Efficient power supply options keep operational costs low without settling on performance. HPE’s Insight Control provides faster remote management capabilities than previous generations and proactively manages the health of the system.

Performance

This system uses AMD’s SR5690/SP5100 chipset and can support up to four AMD Opteron 6300 or 6200 processors. Administrators have their choice between 4, 8, 12, and 16 core processors that provide 16MB L3 cache. Depending on the model, processor frequencies can reach up to 3.5GHz.

Memory

Up to 48 DDR3 Registered DIMM slots are supported on the HPE DL585 Gen7 rack server. Supported DDR3 memory modules are low-voltage to improve performance, capacity, and efficiency. With all 48 DIMM slots filled using 32GB memory modules, this system supports a maximum memory capacity of 1.5TB making it the perfect solution for memory intensive applications.

Storage

There are a total of eight small form factor (SFF) drive bays on this system for a maximum internal storage capacity of 9.6TB when using 1.2TB SAS drives. The P410i controller can support Flash-Backed Write Cache for improved data retention and can provide RAID 6 capabilities when an advanced license is purchased. An internal SSD slot is available for a larger storage capacity, and an optional slimline optical drive can be added to the system.

Expansion

Standard models support five PCIe expansion slots, but adding an I/O expander will provide an additional six slots. Depending on the technology desired, administrators can choose between two expanders- one of which offers a mixture of PCI-X and PCIe and the other with all slots dedicated to PCIe technology.

Management

Power consumption is improved and server deployment is easier than previous generations with HPE’s Insight Control. Remote management has also been improved from iLO 2.0 by 800% with HPE’s iLO 3.0 software. iLO is independent of the host server and operating system with its own microprocessor. An optional storage device and management software can be added to the system to enable hardware-specific configuration and performance modifications.
