Description
The ProLiant DL60 Gen9 is an affordable server that features a dense design offering just the right combination of features to support a variety of common business applications in a 1U form factor. Just like all HPE’s Gen9 server line it offers integrated management tools and enterprise-class components to ensure continuous uptime.
Performance
The HPE DL60 Gen9 features Intel’s C610 chipset and supports up to two processors, either the Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors with up to 14 cores and a 35MB cache. Up to six hot-swap fans can be installed on the system with redundancy for both, one or two CPUs. Choose from either a 550W or 900W high-efficiency power supply for redundant and non-redundant configurations.
Memory
Each processor on the HPE DL60 G9 controls four memory channels and four memory slots for a total of eight memory modules in a two processor configuration. Either registered (RDIMM) modules or load reduced (LRDIMM) modules are supported on the system, and each will support up to 256GB of memory. When paired with an appropriate processor, the DL60 will support data transfer rates of up to 2400MHz.
Storage
The HPE DL60 Gen9 server supports four LFF hot-plug or non-hot-plug drives depending on the backplane installed on the system. Both SAS and SATA, HDDs and SSDs are supported, and depending on your choice of storage devices, will support a maximum of 32TB. Administrators can also add an optional DVD-ROM or DVD-RW optical storage device. An HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i storage controller is standard on the system. For maximum performance and data protection, there’s also the HP Smart Array P440 Controller.
Expansion
Three PCIe 3.0 slots are standard on the DL60 Gen9 server, and all PCIe configurations require the installation of a primary riser for CPU1. Administrators can choose from either a riser that accommodates a single low-profile PCIe 3.0 slot and a Flexible LOM in slots 2 and 3, or a second riser option that offers two PCIe 3.0 slots. Additional interfaces include a micro SD card slot and an integrated Matrox G200eH2 video chip.
Management
HPE offers several different management tools to provide better server maintenance and reduce critical downtime. HPEs Integrated Lights Out (iLO) comes standard on this system. iLO gives administrators access to server health information and the ability to monitor and set server power and thermal controls on-site or remotely. Optional enterprise licenses can be purchased giving administrators even more management tools. An iLO Essentials license grants SMBs server set up via virtual media, full remote management access through the Integrated Remote Console, and faster time to resolution with proactive email notifications. The iLO Advanced license, for Enterprise businesses, grants premium remote functionality such as graphic remote console with multi-user collaboration, video record/playback, and many more advanced features. iLO makes managing your server easier than ever before. UEFI, the industry standard Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, helps configure and securely boot your servers.
Summary
The HPE ProLiant DL60 G9 server is an excellent server for common business applications and easily fulfills basic computing requirements at an affordable price.
